Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Customs by Jason Negron

Jason Negron’s last custom project involved a ‘simple’ swap of the outsoles of his two Foamposite shoes. For his next endeavor, he dove in brush in hand on a pair of Air Griffey Max 1 to create his own personal take on the

OG colorway of Ken Griffey Jr’s first signature shoe. In what could be called a ‘reverse’ of the soon-to-release Freshwater colorway, Jason applied the vibrant teal pigment on the primary upper panels, using black as an offsetting color on the upper and midsole. White laces match the ’24′ on the strap, swoosh (forefoot and heel), ‘NIKE’ insignia on the medial side of the strap, and on the ‘eyelids’ located above the visible Air windows on the midsole. Do you like these better than the OG colorway? Check out Jason Negron’s completed work after the jump and hit up his Facebook Page or through Packer Shoes to get in touch. (more…)

Remember when Ken Griffey Jr. played for the Chicago White Sox? That lasted for 41 games before he packed his back home to Seattle. Although the South Side stop in his career wasn’t very memorable, here’s an all Black/White-Metallic Silver colorway of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 for kids, matching the White Sox uniforms; it features a black upper (nubuck and synthetic leather) with a white strap, swoosh, and midsole, and a metallic silver Max Air unit. The ‘Oreo’ treatment works quite well with the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 silhouette, and we’re certain these would have been a big hit had a men’s release went down. You can find these at Nike retailers now, so check out the extra shots below and pick up a new pair from footsoldiers on eBay. (more…)

Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Hot Red” Re-Releases Again

Honoring Ken Griffey Jr’s days with the Cincinnati Reds, the sneakers feature a Black and Anthracite base, a white midsole and accents of Hot Red. The sneakers originally released back in 2009, and than again this past summer, making this the third time the sneakers have hit stores shelves. It won’t be the last time we see a Cincinnati Reds-inspired colorway either on the Air Griffey Max, as 2011 will see the release of a White/Red version reminiscent to the cleats Griffey wore during the 2007 All-Star Game.

If you didn’t pick a pair up one of the two times before and you’re interested in doing so now, you can get them through Eastbay for $140.

Nike Air Griffey Max 1 – White / Black / Sports Red / Metallic Silver

The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 White/Black-Sports Red-Metallic Silver is going to be a smash hit. There has been an overwhelming response to the shoe and there should be. When you line up a classic silhouette that has performed well at retail in any given colorway and pair it with a colorway that literally can not lose you have a recipe for infamy.

The colorway speaks to Griffey’s Cincinnati Reds days and does so very effectively with a heavy dose of Sport Red and equal portions of White and Black. Metallic silver comes in short supply however but that doesn’t daunt the design at all. These nubuck and leather wonders still don’t have a release date associated with them however we do know that it wont be until 2011. Stay tuned for updates.  (more…)
